Final Blog: A Reflection
EDUC 6163
Image result for educators and children

I want to take this time to reflect this past course that has shown me the importance of research and how it supports Early Childhood Education.
Research builds strength toward new discoveries, helps settle curiosity, and provides those who need special accommodations due to diagnosis, awkward interactions, and even environmental issues. I find that research helps keep the world moving.

As I reflect this past course, I think of my own research simulation that looks at Autism and early childhood programs. Finding correlation between young autistic children and what early childhood programs advocate autistic behavior for academic success is my research topic. This research is important to Early Childhood Education because it not only allows autistic children to thrive in a learning environment but it involves educators and parents the knowledge to pick and choose programs that are suitable for autistic behaviors. My research simulation involves one-on-one interactions such as interviews and play, finding child preference through questionnaires and observations, and letting autistic behaviors perform in a natural environment while utilizing therapies that partner with Early Childhood programs. This contributes to Early Childhood Education because every child, even autistic children, deserve a great learning experience with the help of research and professionals. Therefore, autistic children, parents, and educators can certainly benefit from my research simulation.

Throughout this course, the many methods of research has definitely taught me the importance of research. Working with young children, parents, and professionals I have a new found awareness of the inventive ways research can support the cycle of early childhood. From simple observation to data charts, trials, studies, and theories, etc. there is always someone forming hypothesis, implementing research, and conducting experiments for new discovery. This helps make a learning experience great for young children and being a professional, I believe personal passion drives continuous research processes, advocacy for children which assists the mission of Early Childhood Education so that it is not lost.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION DOWN UNDER:
A LOOK AT AUSTRALIA’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESEARCH
EDUC 6163

When looking at research studies it is important to look at professional outlooks on a global scale. This helps to see the bigger picture of discoveries that can be made possible in furthering fields such as Early Childhood. When we look at research on a global scale we find that there are MANY efforts leading toward helping contributions to child learning and developments.
This week I wanted to look at an empowering organization that seems to be supporting Early Childhood research and this exploration has led me to the website, “Early Childhood Australia: A Voice for Young Children” (n.d.). Looking down under, I wanted to focus on what current research studies were entertaining scientists and educators in regions such as Australia. “CRIKEY!” This is what I found….
Image result for children in australia
The website, “Early Childhood Australia: A Voice for Young Children” (n.d.) is a resource that advocates importance of schooling, health, ambitions, insights, and support that look over parent expectations, education, policies, and child welfare (Early Childhood, n.d.). This particular resource contributes to research such as observing child behaviors and health. In their findings, they have addressed research in psychological aspects and health, to list a few...
Young children who demonstrate fear of separation from a caregiver or fear in unfamiliar settings are known to have what is known as separation anxiety. Due to research, children who suffer from separation anxiety are likely to have social and emotional discomfort toward learning and development. But, with the help of educators and easing transition for young children, separation anxiety can wither away (Early Childhood, n.d.). Another research study I find interesting is childhood nutrition. This research suggests that children who benefit good nutrition are more likely to engage and make good decisions. Children who have poor nutrition are less motivated, struggle to concentrate, and development is not as sufficient (Early Childhood, n.d.). With good nutrition, children benefit from learning and development and they become their own leaders!
With the help and advances from research studies production in the field of Early Childhood Education offers hopes and many benefits toward child learning and development. Research gives scientists and educators ability to support and help children aspire and looks over welfare. This is not just a trend happening locally but it is happening globally which I find insightful. Knowing ALL children are looked at and supported is noteworthy.
Also, finding international organizations such as Early Childhood Australia: A Voice for Young Children (n.d.) who advocates development and health in research studies is insightful because I realize the field of Early Childhood Education is leading the way near and afar. We just have to see the prodigies on a global scale.

The benefits of research that support children and families: A Look at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

I can’t help but share a recent moment I had that I find insightful toward the meaning of this blog…
It wasn’t until this blog that I did not recognize the astounding movement of research that benefits children and families. I became fully aware when I opened my mailbox just yesterday and saw a letter from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital asking for donations and giving celebration to the upcoming holidays. As some might see this as junk mail, I saw this as opportunity to really involve myself, to see what St. Jude works toward, and how they specifically benefit children and families.
This is what I found…
Image result for st jude children hospital

According to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (n.d.) their mission is to work with children who have been diagnosed with cancer, infectious diseases, or other health risks that threaten the will to live. St. Jude states that more than 80% of children who have been diagnosed with cancer have remained in remission due to extensive research and therapies (n.d.). Gathering data, identifying effects and engineering therapies have saved over a hundred thousand children’s lives for over fifty years! It is impressive thinking that research has helped so many children and families battle illnesses such as cancer in what seems like a short amount of time.
Research studies like the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS) is dedicated to find existing knowledge and new knowledge exploring the effects of cancer designing tools and therapies to help children fight cancer and illnesses looking over well-being (St. Jude, n.d.). CCSS also educates children, families, and professionals applying treatment and programs to detect late effects and squash cancer altogether (St. Jude, n.d.).

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital focuses on neuromuscular, neurocognitive, psychosocial activities, etc. that can benefit child treatment and recovery in part of evaluation that research offers. With the support and many different realms of research finding cures, advocating treatment and programs, and giving children hope to battle -to live- is worth sharing.

Image result for st jude children hospital

In this blog, I want to share with my colleagues that we cannot just focus on what is in front of us (e.g. this assignment) but we must acknowledge what is given to us (e.g. mail) so that we can become more aware, give to research, and work harder in the field of Early Childhood Education so that the risk of facing threatening illnesses such as cancer that obstructs a child’s chance to live long-term is decimated. The mail that I received has led me to understanding why research is important because it is what saves lives and for me, it is what helps me endeavor my own research regardless what topic. Ultimately, it is about the benefits of children and their families.

A Personal Journey:
Autism
EDUC 6163

        Image result for autism

A research topic that I would like to examine and share with colleagues involves finding correlations between behavior and symptoms of Autism and how early childhood programs help Autistic children succeed the same academic excellence as others in a learning environment. I find this topic personal because of my nephew Jordan.

Image may contain: 3 people, child and baby

Jordan is my first-born nephew. It was the first time in my life I got to hold a newborn baby, and I was officially an Aunt. I got to watch Jordan grow in the first year of his life and helping my sister, I enjoyed it so much.
It wasn’t until Jordan started lacking motor skills, strength, emotions, and when he got older, he was fixated on sequences, patterns, shapes, and numbers. This fixation turned into OCD. At 4 years old, my sister was concerned and told me what Jordan was doing and how he was behaving. I used what I have learned with psychology and told her he may be Autistic. She took him to get evaluated, and sure enough, Jordan was diagnosed with mild Autism. Since then I have become interested in Autism, how children and adults behave, interact, and adapt. I have watched Jordan grow into such an intelligent second grader still showing signs of OCD and behavior issues, but because Jordan gets assistance at school since preschool, I want to know what it is in early childhood programs that distinguish an actual academic excellence. Does one program such as and IEP trigger more brain activity than another? Does early screening challenge the effectiveness of programs?
After watching my nephew Jordan grow into such a remarkable little boy, with personal experience, I am excited to use research to find the correlations between autism and early childhood programs that look over well-being for children and parents. I am happy to contribute my time and studies to Autism with Jordan in mind and in my heart.

AT LAST! WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
EDUC 6162
 Image result for collaboration
THERE ARE SEVERAL LESSONS I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH  ECE THAT HAVE PROMPTED MANY GOALS AND INSIGHTS THAT HELP ME TO BETTER SERVICE CHILDREN IN WAYS THAT NOT ONLY GRATIFY MY UNDERSTANDINGS  OF WHAT TEACH CAN DO BUT ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD      AND WHAT THE WORLD DOES AROUND ME REGARDING EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.
I HAVE COME TO RECOGNIZE CONSTRUCTIVE CONSEQUENCES OF MY LEARNINGS TOWARD THE SHARING OF INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND:
1)   FUTRE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE IS REALIZED AND SERVICEABLE INTERNATIONALLY THROUGH LEADING ORGANIZATIONS. LOOKING AT ECE THROUGH A LOCAL/NON-LOCAL LENS HELPS ME TO TEACH WITH CULTURAL COMPETENCE IN MIND AND TO KEEP COMMUNICATION ONGOING WITH CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND PROFESSIONALS OF CULTURAL DIFFERENCES IN MY OWN COMMUNITY.

2)   ADDITIONALLY, PROMOTION OF LEADING ORGANIZATIONS THAT FOCUS ON ECE INTERNATIONALLY INFLUENCES PRINCIPLES SUCH AS IDEAS, POLICIES/STANDARDS, EFFORTS, FINANCIALS, UTILITY, RELIEF ASSISTANCE, ETC. LOOKING AT ECE FROM A PERSONAL LENS, I FIND THAT ORGANIZATIONS SUCH AS UNICEF AND NAEYC EMBODIES CHILDREN AND FAMILIES GIVING A LEARNING EXPERIENCE THAT REAPS MANY BENEFITS TO PROSPEROUS ACADEMICS AND FUTURE AMBITIONS WHICH ASPIRES MY DAY TO DAY WELL-BEING SEEING MY DECISIONS AND CONTRIBUTIONS MATTER TO OTHERS.

3)   AN INTERCHANGE TOWARD LIFELONG LEARNING FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FROM ADVOCACY, COLLABORATION, AND ANY ELEMENTS THAT GIVE SUPPORT TO ECE INTERNATIONALLY PROVIDES CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENTS AGAINST ISSUES THAT CAN BE DISSUADED AS I HAVE RECENTLY LEARNED. CHILD WELL-BEING IS SAVED AGAINST ISSUES SUCH AS CHILD POVERTY AND INEQUITIES IN CLASSROOMS CONTEXTS. LOOKING AT ECE FROM A PROFESSIONAL LENS HELPS ME ACCOMMODATE LIFELONG LEARNING.

A GOAL TO ENSUE FOR ME AND YOU
Image result for collaboration
I HAVE LEARNED THAT INTERNATIONAL EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT TO EXPANSION IN ECE AND AN EXPANSION OF PERSONAL HORIZONS FOR THE ASPIRING EDUCATOR. LEARNING OF INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES AND THE ORGANIZATIONS THAT THRIVE CHILDREN LEARNING IS EMPOWERING AS I PURSUE MY PROFESSIONAL CAREER WITH CHILDREN. AWARENESS, INFORMATION, AND IDEAS REMAIN ACCESSIBLE THROUGH COLLEGIAL RELATIONS. SO AS I CLOSE THIS CHAPTER OF MY JOURNEY THROUGH EDUC 6162 I ONLY MAKE THIS GOAL THAT COMMUNICATION, SHARED RESOURCES, AND SHARED PASSION FOR CHILDREN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT REMAIN ACTIVE BETWEEN US AS WE FIND OUR STRENGTHS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR THE WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN WORLDWIDE.

UNESCO Affirms My Professional Goals
EDUC 6162

My professional goals begin with….
  1)  Enhancing performance
        2) Designing a long-term career around passion
        3)  Openness to new developments, improvements, and work-based relationships

Image result for social change in education

This week, I have focused on the three professional goals I set for myself when I first started courses in ECE. I did not think much about them but as I have grown in my studies, I have realized now they mean more.

A major reason why I hold onto my professional goals is resources that I have explored in my current and past courses. Reading and coming familiar with the mission that early childhood advocates support is how I find motivation to keep my goals active.
Image result for teachers teaching

This week, I found that the United Nations Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is an advocate to the education of children and families taking scientific, communicative, and cultural measures. According to the UNESCO website, they vow to secure child rights, justice, and healthy development and wellness to children universally. This resource provides information of the programs created so that awareness and accessibility is equal to all. Training, cooperation, and security are key to make this happen –to make education lifelong and universal.
Image result for international education for children

Programs such as the Seville Statement on Violence which fights against crime or the Geo Parks Network that focuses on geological heritage are two of many programs created that expands the works and potentiality that UNESCO can do for child education! In addition, the UNESCO’s Early Childhood Care and Education program is the core to the organization’s mission of child rights and healthy development. This program is opportunity to avoid any issues or disadvantages that’s children around the world encounter provoked by poverty, cost, location, etc.
With programs utilized, the United Nations Educational, Scientific Cultural Organization (UNESCO) plans to exclude the rise of poverty, reduce inequality, take climate actions, and add partnership to other organizations which is insightful to me and a reason to reflect my professional goals…

After reviewing the website UNESCO and the many ways they have built a foundation dedicated to education for children and families internationally, I look at my professional goals in a different light. I have to enhance my performance by volunteer work and continuing to share and advocate myself personally and professionally. I have my passion toward child care learning that helps motivate a long-term career which I find relative to the motivation and long-term drive that the UNESCO members have demonstrated through their work. And by creating programs, I see that new developments and improvements are imperative to the upkeep of childhood education. Having openness is a must as an advocate –as a professional in ECE.

The UNESCO is worth sharing because it looks at child education from different aspects on a global scale and it has helped me realize this week that my goals are worth the hard work.

Expanding More: Sharing Web Resources
Related image
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the World Forum which hosts podcasts, and other early childhood organizations that I have mentioned in past Blogs have helped expand new horizons and new behavior toward the field of Early Childhood Education for me. I have gotten the chance to explore some pretty awesome organizations that do so much for children and families and the act of dedication and kindness, passion, and even struggle is a real attention grabber. As an aspiring educator, I have come to realize that I have to continue my pace in the sharing of resources and I was allowed this week to find yet another resource that I have never heard of that I wanted to share.
An Outsider- An outside resource I have found is the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI). This organization leads to advocacy of children through knowledge, professionalism, and creativity on a global scale. Collaboration promotes optimal education for young children onto adolescence which I find rather exceptional and worthy to share. ACEI is working to create a social change toward learning and development universally.

Image result for acei child education

I Found It!- I found that in order for children around the world to receive the education deserved, it has become the ACEI’s highest priority. 35% of children are out of school worldwide because there is a lack of awareness, resources, and access. War and terror conflict opportunity for education when families are struggling to ensure education for their children. That is heartbreaking… 90% of children worldwide who are disabled are left without the proper equipment and attention needed in a classroom setting so they miss learning opportunity and development. The ACEI commits to global interactions to make sure all children have opportunity to education even in areas of war or lack or equipment. Organizations provide the support! This is something worth finding out!
Equity is Excellence- the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI) broadens a deeper understanding to me the importance of early childhood education and the need for continuous support, expansion, and funds to reach children of all areas around the world deprived of education. By commitment and advocacy, ACEI shows equity by demonstrating the importance of child care and education and that every child deserves equal opportunity. By this demonstration, excellence is showcased.

Insightful- NEVER STOP SHARING RESOURCES. NEVER STOP LOOKING AT RESOURCES. New information is available every day to those that are inspired of children and the support they need for child learning and development. Organizations like the ACEI are built to support and care for children all over the world which I find insightful. Teams are planning, supporting, improvising, and dedicating personal time and passion everywhere. I can only honor the resources I share and dedicate my own time as I aspire in the field of Early Childhood Education and aspire to take part.

EXPLORATION FOR EXCELLENCE AND EQUITY:
ECE IN THREE DOMAINS
EDUC 6162

Image result for global

OVERVIEW
In order to achieve excellence and equity in ECE resources have to remain existing. To look at issues concerning the field of ECE, websites are offered so that professionals and audiences remain collaborative and aware for child sake and development. With helpful resources, I have found that they are there to help tackle issues such as threat toward excellence and shift of equity.
Harvard University offers a website that I have found very resourceful this week. Their website, “Global Children’s Initiative” provides information about professionals all around the world who are a part of ECE and who help deviate bad behavior toward equity. Research and projects are two advantages to ease the issues of excellence and equity.
THREE INSIGHTS- THE THREE DOMAINS
1.    Global Children’s Initiative shares information of the scientific knowledge Brazil has assimilated through their growing organization, NCPI. Scientific knowledge about child development is collaborative, informative, and effective when deviating bad behavior of equity is a rising concern to professionals in the field of ECE. It is effective communication that I find insightful between looking at a scientific approach to child development and the research and/or focus it has on child development.
2.    In Canada, the AFWI advocates child development toward public policies that ought to support equity in ECE. The AWFI separates the “what we know” and the “what we do” through research and public awareness with reference to child development. It is insightful to know that there are efforts taken globally to see children are thought of.
3.    Global Children’s Initiative shares areas of the world who dedicate time to the excellence of children and equity in ECE. In Mexico, the Acceleradora de Innovacion para la Primera Infancia has professionals who create and propose projects such as parent-child interaction projects and projects that are play-focused for children so family participation and public support bridge together the importance of excellence and equity. It is the time and assistance children receive that makes the world better as I see it. Cheers to that!

IN ADDITION
Excellence and equity are fundamental to ECE and child development. Globally, professionals are finding ways to help children and to see that every child succeeds. Research and projects help support child development which is why I find Harvard University’s “Global Children’s Initiative” website to be very resourceful as I aspire in the field of ECE. When thinking of children, you have to think globally so that EVERY child remains thought of and that excellence and equity are achieved.

Sharing Web Resources:
UNICEF and NAEYC

Image result for economy

Last week I shared some leading organizations that help end poverty. This week I want to share two of the organizations that I have followed up on to see their relation toward my own professional development and to look at how it is possible to amass such successful empires toward the well-being of child education and development.

A professional Development-
The United Nations International Emergency Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) are organizations that I find extremely beneficial when it comes to children. During my professional development, I have discovered ways in which I can contribute and advocate for the sake of children and the end of poverty such as contributing, acquainting myself, and remain dedicated to the field of ECE. What professional wouldn’t thrive for this!? “We believe ZERO children should be abused, exploited, or denied the right to health care, education, and protection” (UNICEF, n.d.).  As I aspire in ECE, I advocate to that!

Image result for showing support for child education

New Ways of thinking/New information-
Both the UNICEF and the NAEYC see that children are given provisions and adequate attention when it comes to education and welfare. Their websites provide open information to anyone interested in the well-being of children and families and offer ways donations and any contributions are received, accepted, and appreciated. Looking at economy, making investments to the field of Early Childhood Education and making investments to families relax long-term savings and make nations wealthier when it comes to health, stability, and education for all. If the people are taken care of, the world will continue to turn… -poverty does not win!!!!! The UNICEF and the NAEYC share compassion to child care and how that is achieved has a lot to do with economists and their position in economy’s production. Support from federal, state, and local governments’ factor into this matter in a way to build up the United States, by example. To become a more elate nation Americans, like you and I, ought to become more involved securing effective learning and development for children through professional development and understand an economists’ position.

Image result for children holding money

New insights-
Looking at both organizations, the United Nations International Emergency Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) they share so much information to make sure poverty does not devour child ambitions and learning. Professionals aim to avoid the issue of poverty and with the help of leading organizations investments are made to make sure children and families remain focused on and accounted for. This is insightful especially when economy is testy and funding is challengeable. Help from federal, state, and local government proves that economy remains productive and future outlooks are fair. Audacious as the field of Early Childhood Education is, it’s the investing and compassion that seems significant.

Poverty: A Real Issue
Sharing Lending Hands

Image result for child poverty

It has been estimated that 18 million people die a year die to poverty. This estimation hits a global scale (WHO, 2015).

A lack of materials, food, water, shelter, resources, health care, etc. -children and families all over the world are left without essentials needed to live prosperous lives. Due to this phenomenon, a high risk of hunger, starvation, and diseases are most likely to take over, in fact, TAKING OVER millions are lives.

Severe deprivation including basic human needs has a lasting effect on children and families. It is stripping standards of well-being, success, and LIFE! This cannot be happening…

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) reports HALF THE WORLD’S children live in poverty and millions of children around the world miss out on their childhood as a result of poverty and death.
Image result for child poverty

In order to achieve a deterioration in the rise of poverty, there are numerous organizations who focus on making a better difference toward issues that surface regarding child and families and yes, even in the field of Early Childhood.

Efforts made to end poverty are given attention to national organizations such as the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) who promote awareness and partnership with children and families, communities, and outreach with top leaders, politicians, and decision-makers to END poverty. Interventions, support, social protection, and integration of essentials remain imperative in order to help the issue of poverty.
Image result for helping poverty

Poverty has been considered a real phenomenon as I have mentioned before that has impacted lives globally. Looking at the field of Early Childhood, poverty is unacceptable. Knowing there are organizations that work hard to end poverty, replenishing learning and development, lives, and well-being I only know I want a piece of the pie. For instance, the UNICEF reports poverty in countries like Sub- Saharan Africa and East Asia have been hit the hardest. The World Bank group reports the growing population in Africa shows 50 million more people are living in extreme poverty where as in Asia threat of continuing poverty is less upsetting but the struggle is there.
With organizations like the UNICEF, change in poverty, early death, and child well-being is likely or on the verge of better differences in all areas on the globe. Any insights I have found this week, I have learned that 1) it is important to be aware and be a part of organizations that help make the world better. 2) It is important to recognize the effects of poverty and its causes so it does not progress onward, and 3) acknowledging other countries and their struggles enlightens better behavior to make change and/or a better difference even in our own community.

CHECK IT OUT!: SHARING WEB RESOURCES
EDUC 6162

Sharing resources is core to expanding the field of Early Childhood. Picking issues relative to your own personal experiences and/or professional concerns, resources help explore what you may not see, what you want to promote, and educate you in a way that will persevere attitude and behavior in your own classroom.
Here are two web resources that I would like to share that exemplify international outreach.
THE UNITED NATIONS CHILDREN’S FUND (UNICEF)
This international programme focuses on EVERY CHILD as it is clearly promoted on the website. Children are provided essentials so that their rights are sanctioned in order to learn and grow. Inclusion, education, innovations, research, and survival are a few focuses that UNICEF offers globally. CHECK IT OUT!

THE UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC, AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATION (UNESCO)
A coworker of mine shared this organization with me recently so as I expand my own horizons I have discovered that this particular organization focuses on peaceful promotions of collaboration and education of children and families on a global scale (unesco.blogspot.com, 2008). CHECK IT OUT!

PICK AN ISSUE: SOCIAL CHANGE
UNICEF focuses in every child at the same time UNESCO focuses on collaboration and education. Both profound organizations persevere for the sake of children and families in a way that leads toward the issue of social change –for humanity, for a better world.
Acknowledging their focuses, I have found that issue such as social change is imperative so that children and families on a global scale are provided for and able to attain proper care and treatment. UNESCO promotes social change and by example, an article titled, “Young Africans Believing on the Impact of Culture on Social Change” (June, 2017) advocates fairness, reintegration, and leadership so that local community and broadened communities unify toward social change between various cultures. This indicates positive attitude and behavior regarding not only rights for every individual despite class and status but also importance of learning and development. Work, creativity, and cohesion is what ignites social change. Furthermore, the UNICEF promotes the issue social change centering every child with actions such as monitoring water sanitation in developing countries, supplying goods and essentials to children and families during state of emergencies (for example), and making sure medical care and practices are available to all. This promotion of social changes helps children and families get what is needed for learning and development… and ultimately, for survival on a global scale.

Internationally, it is important to learn of other places around the world so that professionals and educators in the field of Early Childhood are aware of the issues and trends that surface and are acted on or against for the sake of children and future productions. I like to share web resources that I find beneficial and educational to colleagues who have a similar taste in the field so expansion remains progressive.

EXPANDING HORIZONS
EDUC 6162

Image result for expanding horizons

In the field of Early Childhood expanding horizons is imperative. Being a professional in a learning environment involves creative thinking, innovations, being responsive to children and families, and embracing collaboration from colleagues and other professionals so that learning and development are effective for future success. This is what professionals aim for.

By expanding horizons, professionals look at outside sources in order to gain knowledge and ideals such as creative thinking that helps effective learning. Researching and utilizing values from leading organizations proves beneficial in the field of Early Childhood. From a personal position, I have found organizations such as The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as a helpful tool in order to familiarize and relate ideas and functionalities in a learning environment. It helps me know the purpose as to why learning and development are important to a child's well-being and future success. The NAEYC promotes values involving the importance of play being implemented in daily curriculums, embodies positive child behaviors toward learning and how to achieve them, as well as providing guidelines that professionals can utilize to ensure ethical and appropriate treatment and opportunities for children and families are met. Using NAEYC is a great source for aspiring educators and professionals.

Image result for early childhood studies

Another organization that allows the expanding of horizons is Zero to Three. This organization values passion, collaboration, and respect which is what I find vital when working with children and families in a learning environment. Having passion is what makes a classroom harmonize, collaboration is what makes creative thinking and innovations most effective and productive, and respect for children and families who have different beliefs, preferences, and attitudes is what establishes effective partnerships. Zero to Three is a great source to turn to so that expanding horizons becomes achievable and educators can become more enlightened in the field of Early Childhood.

This week, I have acknowledged and become more aware of the different organizations that focus on early childhood learning and development as well as familiarizing myself with values that each leading organization strive for. THERE ARE SO MANY!

As I expand my own horizons, I found out what podcast was realizing that this is another great way to accumulate sources so that my ability to teach remains effective. Listening to Michael Kalinski, host of World Forum Radio, I have learned that this source is great because you are not just reading an article but you are listening to passion and dedication out loud. Michael Kalinski explains that World Forum Radio seeks to collaborate on an international scale discussing issues around the world relative to Early Childhood studies. When considering expanding horizons, sometimes it is better to listen to other professionals in a different way in order to remain aware of not only what is happening close to us but what is also happening globally.

HOW SOURCES BENEFIT PROFESSIONALISM IN THE CLASSROOM
1. Given higher awareness of purpose in ECS
2. Collaboration of others gaining different angles and insights for childhood learning and development
3. Utilizing own professional attitude such as being communicative, creative, and responsive learning from leading organizations.

MY SUPPORTS
EDUC 6161

Image result for support

THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF SUPPORT. WHEN WE THINK “SUPPORT” WE THINK SUPPORT FROM FAMILY, FRIENDS, PETS…
TO ME, SUPPORT IS ANY PURPOSE THAT GETS ME THROUGH THE DAY –SOMETHING THAT HELPS ME, NOT UPSETS ME. SO WHEN I THINK SUPPORT THERE ARE TWO SUPPORTS THAT COME TO MIND THAT HELP ME OUT EVERYDAY…
OK, I CAN EASILY BLOG THAT MY MOM AND MY SISTERS, MY DOG, AND MY FRIENDS ARE MY BIGGEST SUPPORTS BUT TO BE RANDOM AND CHANGE THINGS UP I DECIDED THAT WITHOUT A DOUBT MY CAR AND MY BED ARE MY TWO BIGGEST SUPPORTS.

MY CAR- “THE SKITTLE”
THINKING ABOUT SUPPORT AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME, I CAN’T HELP BUT THINK THAT MY CAR GIVES BIG SUPPORT. WITHOUT MY CAR I CANNOT GET TO WORK TO PAY THE BILLS, VISIT MY GRANDMA ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS BIG CITY, AND I CANNOT JAM TO MUSIC LIKE I DO IN MY CAR. I LOVE MY CAR! IF I KEEP HER OILED, GASSED, AND CLEAN I BELIEVE SHE WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT ME AS I CONTINUE TO DO FOR HER. WITHOUT MY CAR I WOULD BE LIMITED –I WOULD BE HOME ALL THE TIME AND WALK IN THIS TEXAS HEAT… (No thank you).

Same color as a Skittle!

MY BED- THE SERTA
AS I HAVE SAID, THERE ARE ALL TYPES OF SUPPORTS. FOR ME, I FIND MY BED AS ADDED SUPPORT. THINK ABOUT IT! MY BED IS MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT. SOFT AND COZY, I WOULD BE AN EMOTIONAL WRECK WITHOUT THE COMFORT OF MY BED. I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO REST MY MIND AND BODY ACCORDINGLY, I WOULD HAVE NO PLACE TO THROW MY CLOTHES OR SOMEWHERE TO SNACK WHILE WATCHING TV. (I COULDN’T DO THAT AS A KID SO NOW I LIVE A LITTLE.) IT’S A SERTA (NOT A TEMPURPEDIC AS I WOULD PREFER) BUT IT IS MINE, ALL MINE, AND BENEFITS FROM SUCH GREAT SUPPORT LIKE MY BED INVOLVES A RESTED BODY, WARMTH, AND A PLACE TO PROP MY FEET AFTER A LONG DAY. CRAWLING INTO BED, IT IS LIKE GETTING HUGS AND I’LL TAKE THAT!

HAHAHAHA!

SUPPORTS I WANT VS. SUPPORT I NEED
SUPPORT IS ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, MAKES YOU FEEL ACCOMPLISHED AND HELPS YOU PERFORM BETTER. MANY PEOPLE FEEL THAT WITH LOVE AND SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS IT IS LIKE FRESH AIR. TALKING TO OTHERS IS GETTING THAT SUPPORT BUT TO CONTINUE MY RANDOM THINKING I THOUGHT OF SUPPORTS I WANT VERSUS WHAT SUPPORTS I NEED.
AN UNLIMITED CREDIT CARD IS SUPPORT I WANT. WITH A CREDIT CARD THAT HAS AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF MONEY I WOULD HAVE THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO ESTABLISH MY PREFERRED LIVING STYLE (EX. DREAM HOME, INTERIOR DESIGN, VACATIONS). BUT WHAT I NEED IS TO SUPPORT MY OWN FINANCIALS WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD.
ANOTHER SUPPORT I THOUGHT OF IS… HAVE YOU EVER WATCHED MY 600LB LIFE? MOST OF THE PEOPLE I HAVE WATCHED SAY THAT EATING FOODS IS GIVING THEM SUPPORT. I THOUGHT FOOD WOULD BE A GREAT SUPPORT THAT I WANT. TO EAT AND FEEL SUPPORTED BY SUGARS AND CAFFEINE WITHOUT A CARE OR NO COUNTING CALORIES. BUT WHAT I NEED INSTEAD OF FOOD SUPPORT IS PHYSICAL SUPPORT SUCH AS SUPPORTING EXERCISE AND HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES. THAT AGAIN, I NEED TO SUPPORT ON MY OWN.

LAST THOUGHTS
MY CAR AND MY BED OR TWO SUPPORTS THAT GET ME THROUGH THE AVERAGE DAY. THEY BENEFIT ME. I SUPPORT MY CAR SO IT SUPPORTS ME. I FEEL COMFORTABLE IN MY BED SO MY BED SUPPORTS MY REST. WITHOUT MY CAR AND MY BED MY DAILY PERFORMANCE WOULD INTERFERE INCOME TO PAY BILLS, VISITS, ERRANDS, REST…

HAVING SUPPORTS THAT I WANT VERSUS WHAT I NEED ARE NOT EFFECTIVE, NOT REALLY IMPORTANT. I NEED TO FOCUS ON SELF-SUPPORT FOR MOST THINGS I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH SO PRIORITIZING MY SUPPORTS IS SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT AS FAR AS WANTS AND NEEDS. IT WOULD BENEFIT ME OVERALL.
